Husayn

Nazim Farrukh Husayn-

A Persian poet born in Harat ( modern day Afghanistan ) in 1607 ( AD ).

Husayn spent many years in the town of Jahangir Nagar , India.

He was a Court poet of Belerbegis of Harat. His greatest work – ” Yusuf and Zuleikha ” , completed in 1661, was dedicated to one of the Governors-Abbass Kali Khan Shamlu.

This work is an imitation of Ferdowsis work of the same name.

However, this became very popular – especially in central Asia, which is still the case.

His lyrical Diwan contains many excellent poems and Ghazals- some of which are even sung today by the classically trained singers of Bukhara and Samarkand.
